COVID-19 Updates Regarding our Holiday Cottages

This page will include updates as we change and ensure that our cleaning processes, as well as holiday bookings change with the COVID-19 threat. Keep up to date by looking at this page.

COVID-19 Update 16/07/2020

This is an Anti-Viral Fogging Treatment for the COVID-19, which should reduce the risk of the virus immensely. This is done on vacation of guests and before arrival of guests with a 72 hour window.

We have taken a number of precautions regarding your stay in this difficult time of COVID-19. We have provided you with extra products to help you and your family stay safe! This includes kitchen roll and sanitiser for you to sanitise in order to reduce any risks.

Doing your part in this difficult time will increase your safety, as well as showing an understanding of these difficult times. Below is a checklist of the COVID-19 changes for all our guests to follow;

Please make sure you wipe down all surfaces daily. This includes basins, toilets, door handles, light switches, front door and keys.

We would advise that on a daily basis any kitchen waste should be collected into small bags and deposited into the outside bin.

Please do not leave any food in the fridge and cupboards, including fruit, tea bags, sugar etc. This includes all glass and tins. You may either bin it in the recycling bins in Church Fields carpark or take it home.

On vacation, please remove any remaining rubbish from the kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms and place in a black bag and leave it outside the property, or take it to the recycling bins.

Please endure all crockery etc. is placed in the dishwasher and switched on (or washed up) before departure.

Please strip all bedding, including the mattress protectors and pillow protectors. We have provided black bags, so please put all bedding from each room in separate black bags. Leave these in the downstairs lobby, so they can be collected more easily.

Please put all bath mats in a separate black bag.

Please put all tea towels in a separate black bag.

Please sanitise all door handles, toilet handles, light switches, stair banisters and work surfaces etc. in all rooms, starting from the first floor.

Please leave windows ajar on departure.

On vacation, we request that you will leave the property in a clean and tidy condition. This is much appreciated!


We wish you a lovely holiday and hope you will respect the social distancing rules in our village, wear masks and gloves when shopping in local shops and use sanitiser as much as possible. We have included sanitiser in the entrance hall and kitchen! This requested procedure is done for every guest and booking in order to ensure any guest on arrival together with our staff during changeover is kept as safe as possible.

NOTE; Surplus blankets have been removed due to COVID-19, as well as hand soaps and other personal bathroom items.

NOTE; if you or any of your party show any signs of COVID-19 virus you must immediately call 111. If necessary, call an ambulance. We request that you vacate the property immediately and should you have symptoms that suggest you’re affected, we request you notify us and return home. The property will then be shut down and disinfected.

COVID-19 UPDATE

Our policy at this time is, regardless of government advise, Appledore Cottages is allowing 72 hours between departures and arrivals of holiday guests in all our properties.

This is to protect our guests and staff and give us enough time to ensure that the property is adequately cleaned to eliminate any virus present.

In order to achieve this between bookings, we propose (for our guests’ safety) the following, which will allow us 72 hours between departure and arrival to undertake the changeover between bookings, to ensure a thorough clean;


Please note; l that due to the fact we are considering the health and well-being of all our guests and staff at this time, Appledore Cottages has taken the decision to allow at least 72 hours in each property between departure and arrival of guests. Of course this means that our bookings for the Summer season, July, August, September and October, will not run from Saturday to Saturday as usual, due to COVID-19.


Having made this decision for everybody’s safety and well-being, we have effectively lost several weeks bookings during this period. This has resulted in having to increase our weekly holiday rental price. I’m sure that all guests wishing to book with us will appreciate this extra cost per week in order that Appledore Cottages is ensuring our guests’ and staff safety at this time.
